Pamela’s short stories and essays have been featured in several publications. Her essay, “In Tune with Keeping It Real” featured in Los Angeles Times, won first place in the Orange County Press Club’s Marjorie Freeman Award for most humorous story. Pamela’s short story, “Samantha” is featured in the best-selling book series, Chicken Soup for the Soul, in the anthology about the feline-human bond, Chicken Soup for the Soul: What I Learned from My Cat, released in March 2025.
Pamela’s passion for writing goes back to elementary school. She took on writing assignments with gusto and crafted homemade books as gifts for her parents. In college Pamela was interested in journalism, but an excellent opportunity came along and she accepted a position as a transactional paralegal. Although she wasn’t writing articles, her assignments included writing research papers, reports, drafting legal documents and ghost writing letters for attorneys.
On a winter night in 2010, gazing at the full moon with her beloved cat sparked an idea for a children’s book. Pamela took classes on creative writing and writing for children, and worked the idea into a manuscript. Then she took her writing expertise to a new level and started a freelance copywriting business. In between writing content for clients and working on the children’s book, Pamela wrote short stories, essays and started a blog, Cat Lady in the Canyon—Crazy Cat Lady Redefined, where she writes mini-memoirs telling tales of life with feline companions.
Pamela’s children’s book idea became a reality with the publication of Two Cats, a Mermaid and the Disappearing Moon.
